The “blog” page of my website is supposed to show blog posts. It currently displays as a blank page, despite my dashboard showing that there is content (with commentary) on the page. I tried to create a new page as a copy, but when I tried to format it as a “blog” page, it broke, and started showing a blank again. No matter what changes I make with the page builder, the page still shows up blank. I need to be able to have an active “blog” page.
Hi Maacah
You have a few options here:
1. If you set the page template of that page to Blog using the right column Page Template drop down menu then the page won’t render any content other than your blog posts. If you use this page template then check that you’re not also assigning that as your posts page under Settings > Reading.
2. If you want to display content above your posts using Page Builder then set your page template to Default or Full Width and insert a Post Loop widget to pull your posts. You can then insert widgets above or below that as required.
Let us know how that goes.
Hey! Thanks for the swift response. I got the page to display content that had been there originally, by setting it to “Full Width” template, but the problem is still that when I set it to “blog template,” and it pulls content from blog posts, it does so with a default “circle icon” layout that I am not able to edit via page builder. I’d like to be able to format the blog page to look the way I want it to. I’ll create a test “blog” template page so you can see what I mean about the icon layout.
For sure.
You can choose between Blog, Grid or Circle Icon layouts at Appearance > Theme Settings > Blog: Blog Archive Layout.
If you instead opt to use the Post Loop widget instead of the Blog page template you could also opt for the Carousel layout.
Hope that helps.
