Breadcrumbs / Navigation for Vantage Theme

By Kris Carter, 10 years ago. Last reply by Erica Dyson, 8 years ago.

Hello! Well I have been making good progress on a new site for my client using Vantage.

Two Questions:

1. Are Breadcrumbs available in the premium edition?
2. Are there recommended Breadcrumb plugins I should use? Such as Yost or Instant Breadrumbs if Breadcrumbs are not included in the purchased upgrade?
3. Will Yost SEO be compatible with Vantage? Is there a recommended SEO plugin?

Last but not least.. is there a way to know when updates are available for Vantage?

Thanks. Love the theme!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Kris

Glad to hear you’ve been coming along nicely.

    1. There are no breadcrumbs in Vantage, in either version. You could however try this plugin and see how you do: http://mtekk.us/code/breadcrumb-navxt/

    2. I’ve only ever tried the above plugin, but not with Vantage so it’s up to you unfortunately. If you find one that styles nicely with Vantage let us know here.

    3. Yes, I use WordPress SEO by Yoast on several Vantage driven sites, there are no compatibility issues that I know of. It’s a great plugin.

    4. As updates become available you’ll get notified under Dashboard > Updates in your WordPress installation. The changelog is here: http://updates.siteorigin.com/readme/vantage/.

Hello. I saw this and I use the breadcrumb feature in WordPress SEO by Yoast. It’s easy to set up by adding a bit of code in the header.php file. The code is available in the internal links tab of WP SEO.

        Hi, I Work Here

Sorry Dave. Speed reading! Greg just pointed out you were offering advice not asking a question. That’s awesome, much appreciated. I’ll workup a child theme for this now anyway.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks again Dave. Here is a child theme that can be used with WordPress SEO to get their breadcrumb feature running:

Thread: Integrate WordPress Seo Breadcrumbs Into Vantage

Hi, Andrew. I made a mistake on where to place Yoast’s breadcrumb code.

I said to put it in the header.php file. It should go into the home-panels.php file. Putting it into the header.php file will call the code twice for some reason. Putting it into the home-panels.php fixes the problem.

There is excellent article here if you need it for future reference. https://managewp.com/breadcrumbs-wordpress-seo-by-yoast

Sorry if I have caused any inconvenience for anyone.

How do I get the breadcrumbs to show the hierarchy ie

level 2 (previous level) > level 3 (current level)

    because I have

home > level 3 (current level)

    Any ideas?

    Thanks Erica
