Blog problems

Hi, I’m very new to this, just put up the site, but seem to have got myself into trouble already!

I have a Vantage blog page which, if I select Reading settings -posts page – select, shows the first post I did correctly, with comment box and comments. It will not show a new post I did.

If I select Reading settings – posts page – blog, the blog page shows the second post I did, removes the first, and will show no comment box.

I have read previous posts and checked the allow comments and discussion stuff. I can’t seem to find out how to get BOTH posts on same page with comments activated. I can’t keep the first option, because it won’t allow any more blog posts, and I can’t keep the second, because it won’t allow comments.

I do see advice here about single page posts, but didn’t quite understand. All I want is a normal blog with multiple posts showing in order, comments activated. If this is going to be complicated, I can scrap the page since I am just starting, so could somebody indicate exactly how to configure a new page to do that? Just a page with an ordinary blog, allowing comments. I jsut can’t get it to work right.

Sorry to bother you with a what is probably a beginner question.

Thank you.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Carla

    Thanks for reaching out.

Your posts page should be set to a page, not a post. So to confirm, go to Pages and create a page called Blog if you haven’t already. Then go to Settings > Reading and set Blog as your posts page.

Comment boxes only appear on single post pages, they don’t appear on blog or archive pages. If you want show just a bit of your post and send users to the single post page to read more, use the “more” quicktag:

Hopefully that helps get you going :)
