Blog page won’t display comments section

By das, 9 years ago. Last reply by imam budianto, 9 years ago.

Hi.

I’ve created a blog page (not my home page) and selected “allow comments/allow track backs” under discussions menu. I’ve written and added a post. However, the comments section does not display on the page.

I’ve read some other people who’ve had this problem and the fixes related to settings and activating features don’t seem to be my issue here.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi D

Comments only appear on single post pages. Here is a demo blog page: http://demo.siteorigin.com/vantage/blog/ and a demo single post page: http://demo.siteorigin.com/vantage/2013/09/27/delicious-supper/, see the comment box at the bottom there. To get users from your blog to your single post page you can use the more tag to split your content: http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/ OR use excerpts.

    1. More tag: to use the more tag Appearance > Theme Settings > Blog > Post Content must be set to Full Post, you can then insert the more tag as indicated in my link above.

    2. Excerpts: to use excerpts Appearance > Theme Settings > Blog > Post Content must be set to Post Excerpt. You can the manually create an excerpt on each post in WordPress. If you can’t see the Excerpt field you need to then click Screen Options top right and check the Excerpt checkbox.

Thanks for the assistance, Andrew. I’ve applied your instructions for adding the more tag which works as intended on the page. It seems there is an issue with the permalink, however. When I select the “read more” option or the title of the blog, it stays on the same page. I’ve tried creating a couple of different permalinks under the “permalinks settings” tab, but this has only resulted in “404 page not found messages”. What am I missing?

Disregard. I was able to figure out the permalink conflict. Thanks, again.
