What is the best method to move a WP w/ Vantage theme from a local installation to its server location? I’ve got some added plugins as well. I’ve got Vantage and all the plugins currently being used installed on the server.

Thanks,

john

OK, it looks like I’ve been pretty successful with the export/import. I had to manually move my images, but that’s done. Right now the issue I’m trying to figure out is the appearance of the Home page. It still looks like the Vantage sample page but has my menu bar options in it. How do I import all the changes that were made to that page?

    Thanks,

    John

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi John

Glad you posted – sorry we didn’t get to you earlier. The situation is that right now we’re unable to migrate Page Builder content via database export. As you discovered Page Builder content does migrate successfully via Tools > Export. However as you also realised, Appearance > Home Page doesn’t move with that process. My recommendation is to convert your custom home page into a regular home page first:

An import note for the Tools > Export/Import process is that all plugins must be setup first before doing the import.

The last option is Duplicator: https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/. You can move Vantage and Page Builder content successfully using that plugin.

I actually had pretty good luck. I copied the Vantage theme folder from one installation to the other, but it didn’t look like a lot of the customization had carried over. Primarily the Home page.

I then opened both installations’ Appearances pages next to each other and mirrored settings from old to new. I got lazy and didn’t want to re-enter all of the custom colors for links and hovers, etc. So I left those as is. I ended up with almost everything done except for the main body of the Home page and the custom colors.

I then noticed, I’m not sure which page I was on, a Clear Cache button along the top tool bar. Did that and everything is perfect, I think.

    Thanks,

    John

    Oops, I lied… the custom Home page isn’t there…

    Hrumph.

Argh, now I see why I thought the Flush Cache worked. One of the Home buttons on the new server installation is linked back to the .dev local site installation.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi John

I wrote this after you posted:

    https://siteorigin.com/thread/id-like-to-move-my-website-thats-using-page-builder-whats-the-best-method/

But yeah, unfortunately Custom Home Page doesn’t migrate so you’ll need to convert it to a regular page first.

Hope you had success after your last message here.
