Automatically set Featured image

By gerkof, 9 years ago. Last reply by gerkof, 9 years ago.

Hello,

I’m using the SiteOrigin Post Carousel. This widget only shows thumbnails when I have set a featured image in a post. Otherwise theres a grey block.
Is there a code which automatically set the first image in a post as a Featured image?

This is important for the users of the website so they won’t have to make too many actions to post something the way we want.

I also use Nextgen Galleries in my posts. Is it also possible to make the first image in such a post a Featured Image?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi gerkof

You’d need to try a plugin for this. I haven’t used one yet but here is an idea:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/autoset-featured-image/
    or
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/search.php?q=auto+featured+image

    Hope that helps.

    Hello,

Thank you! The plugin doesn’t work for my gallery-posts, but it works for all other posts with images or sliders.

    Hi, I Work Here

Thanks for the feedback. This is unfortunately a new area for me. If you’d like to troubleshoot this you’d perhaps need to chat the plugin author about how it could be extended into your gallery-posts, if that’s possible.

    Thanks, I will do that!
