Auto Revert to Visual Editor and now can’t use Site Builder

Hi,

This problem happened today after an update. Before the update, I used Page Builder to build some pages. Now, when I open one of those pages, I’m automatically directed to the visual editor. When I click on Page Builder, the content, which was originally made in Page Builder mode, comes in as one big block of content and I cannot edit into it with Site Builder.

I’ve deactivated all plugins except Site Builder and cleared caches. The problem persists.

If there is no solution, what is the easiest way to rebuild the pages in Site Builder?

Thanks!

Daneeta

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Daneeta,

I’m really sorry for any frustration this issue has caused you. Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look? This will allow me to work out what’s going on.

OK. I’ve done this. You should be able to take a look now.

    Thanks!

    Hi Alex,

    It’s these three pages:

    http://www.elektrikzoo.com/locked/
    http://www.elektrikzoo.com/nicabob-movie/
    http://www.elektrikzoo.com/homeland-wetland/

I created these three pages using site builder. Now, when I go to edit the page, I am automatically placed in visual mode. And, when I click on Site Builder to try to edit, it brings in everything as one block that I can’t edit into using Site Builder.

    Thanks!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Daneeta,

    Sorry for the delay.
Thanks. Oddly, I don’t see any references to SiteOrigin Page Builder in the markup for any of the linked pages. Does restoring a revision for one of linked pages help? If not, can you please clarify what was verison of SiteOrigin Page Builder you were using prior to updating?

    Hi Alex,

That’s what I’m trying to describe to you. After updating the last time, all of the pages that I built with Page Builder have been stripped of their page builder markup and are now acting like regular HTML markup.

For example, I built this page with page builder tool several weeks ago:

    http://www.elektrikzoo.com/nicabob-movie/

Then, the other day, I updated WordPress and all of my plugins. I went to edit this page because I wanted to add some more rows to the table. But, when I opened the page in the editor, the editor automatically put me in visual mode. When I clicked page builder, I got this message: Would you like to copy this editor’s existing content to Page Builder? I was confused because wasn’t I already working with Page Builder content? I clicked yes, and the content (which was originally built in Page Builder) came in as one block of HTML which I could not edit into using Page Builder.

So, if I want to edit these pages now, I either have to edit in the visual or text editor or re create them in Page Builder. I’m not sure if I want to rebuild because will the page builder markup just disappear and I will have to keep rebuilding.

I tried restoring one of the pages to the previous version. I chose a version of the page that I know I built with Page Builder. Same thing. Page Builder markup was stripped.

I’m using version 2.9.0 right now. Do you know a way I can check the previous I was using? It was most likely the last version, though.

    Very confusing.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Daneeta,

Unfortunately, we’re never seen SiteOrigin page Builder revert to the editor in this manner before. If there is an issue, it’s always been a display issue with something preventing the SIteOrigin Page Builder editor UI from displaying. We’ve never come across an instance where the entire page has literally been converted to a standard page and all standard page builder markup has been removed. In fact, we intentionally don’t provide any method of removing the base content page builder markup to specifically avoid situations like this (meaning, if you disabled page builder on a page normally, you’ll need to manually go in and remove all of the SiteOrigin markup).

At this stage, reverting to a previous version of SiteOirgin Page Builder is unlikely to help due to the alteration of the posts. I know this likely isn’t what you would like to hear but, do you happen to have a backup before this issue occurred that you could revert to? If so, I would recommend reverting to that issue. I’m really sorry about this whole issue!
