I am using the Vantage theme and still learning :):):)
I have learnt how to restrict what posts are shown in post carousels, post loops :)
I am now learning about archive pages :(
Is it possible to restrict the posts displayed for an archive month to a certain category? e.g. I use post categories for news and vacancies and as mentioned have dedicated post carousels / loops to display posts for the associated category.
Therefore in the archive page for “news I want to restrict it to only “news post”. That make sense?
As ever many thanks for your help and any links to help me with archive pages and there customisation would also be great

Unfortunately, this isn’t possible without a fair amount of custom coding. Basically, you’ll need to greatly alter the way WordPress handles the loop on those pages via PHP. This, sadly, isn’t something I can assist with. I also can’t seem to find a helpful article to link you too that would provide instructions. Sorry mate. :(
I would recommend creating a custom archive instead. The standard WordPress archives will still be present but if you try and avoid directing people to them most people will never see them and instead see your custom archive (which would just be a page with a post loop widget).
