Appearance > Customize > Page Template Settings

Try as I might, it won’t do it again, so that I can grab a screenshot. I’m not making this up – I promise.

In that screenshot, you see 2 options:
Modify the Page Template Settings for the Search Results page and the Not Found page.

I’m telling you: I went there previously, selected Page Template Settings, and it showed me an entire list of other pages where I can modify the page the settings.

Like, blog post pages and Learn Dash pages and more.

Why can’t I access Page Template Settings for those pages? I need to be able to set other pages to ‘full width’ and not the sidebar default.

See? I’m not making it up. See all of those other page options to customize?

And yet, when I click on Type: Courses and set the page to full-width and save and go back … all of those page type options are missing again.

    What’s going on?

    Hi Anna,

Page Template Settings are contextual so only relevant pages or pages you can’t actually navigate too will appear. This means that if you navigate to (for example) a WooCommerce Products page or a tags archive, you’ll see their settings.

Thanks for the reply, Alex. Though, I’m not quite sure I’m following you, as to which pages ARE customizable and which are not.

Are you telling me, that just because I can see that list, ONLY ‘Search Results’ and ‘Not Found’ are actually customizable?

    Type: Podcast
    Type: Courses
    Type: Testimonial

I can’t change the page layout for any of those?

How come sometimes I can see the full list of pages but then sometimes I can only see those two options?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Anna,

The mentioned settings were examples as to how to edit their settings.

Are you telling me, that just because I can see that list, ONLY ‘Search Results’ and ‘Not Found’ are actually customizable?

No. You’re always able to see these options because you’re unable to navigate to the search results or (without prior setup) the Not Found pages,

I can’t change the page layout for any of those?

You can. You need to navigate to the actual page these settings are used on because these settings are conditionally/contextual displayed. You will only see them if the customizer is displaying the relevant page. To see the podcast page settings, navigate to the podcast archive. To see the courses settings, navigate to the courses archive. To see the Testimonial settings, navigate to the testimonial archive.

How come sometimes I can see the full list of pages but then sometimes I can only see those two options?

This is due to a display issue. This should only happen if you quickly open the Page Template Settings on load – you can technically use this to bypass the conditional settings but you won’t be able to see the changes made until you actually navigate to the relevant pages.

I gotcha, Alex. Page settings — default, full-width, etc — should be handled on the actual editing page itself. OK, that should be fine.

    Thank you.
