Animated Gif on Home page

6 years ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 6 years ago

Hello!

I’m using the Vantage theme from SiteOrigin.

I uploaded a small animated GIF file to my media. When I drag and drop it on my browser, it animates.

But when I add it to my site’s home page, it shows as still image — no animation. I looked for settings that might change its behavior, but didn’t see anything that seemed to affect animation.

Can you help?

Thanks!

Dave

I’ve solved this, but found another issue.

I read online that the image has to be set to “FullSize” (and for whatever reason, WordPress tries to set it at a smaller size).

Now that it’s working, refreshing the page won’t replay the image. Also, navigating to another page of the site and returning to the page with the GIF won’t replay it, either. Only opening a new browser session will make the GIF play again. Can this be fixed?

    Thanks!

    Hi Dave

    Thanks for reaching out.

I, unfortunately, haven’t looked at adding animated GIFs in the past. WPBeginner have a guide https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-add-animated-gifs-in-wordpress/. Hopefully, it’ll provide the missing link!
