All of a sudden Editing/Page Builder is extremely slow ?

Hi guys,

As the tittle says, all of a sudden the backend editor/page builder is extremely slow to load on one particular page.. and seems to be breaking stuff which is time consuming to put in place…. arrrggg!!

All other pages of my site works fine.

Could someone get in touch to see if any thing can be done to address this. Thanks

P.S. My host increase php mem to 512m and still no joy.

Thanks

Pele

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Pele,

Your description of the issue you’re facing suggests this is likely as a result of a plugin conflict.

Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

    Hi Alex,

I’ve done the disabling of plugins, cleared cache, checked PHP on host end, cleared transists and all that stuff.

I am lost for ideas, I’ve searched the web for solutions.

I’m just baffled as to why only one page is having this issue when I go to edit page or live page builder..?

What I’ve noticed is that some thing disappear, and on a particular widget it says cl_widget missing? And that part of data is gone..

Thanks for speedy response, I’m pretty much in front of my screen waiting for your response.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Pele,

Would it be possible for you to create a temporary admin account for us so we can log in and take a look?

Regarding cl_widget, did that only happen during the plugin conflict? If so, that’s as a result of the plugin conflict.
If that’s not the case, unfortunately, we’re not aware of what adds cl_widget so you’ll need to work out what plugin added that and re-add it.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Pele,

The linked page will lock the browser up (or at least the tab – it really depends on the browser). I’m not too sure what exactly is causing this issue on your page but I was able to replicate this issue on another page by cloning the problematic page.

This issue is caused by the contents of this Layout Builder.

Once this SiteORigin Editor widget is removed the page saves without issue:

Please navigate to WP AdminPagesAdd New and title the page Test (the title doesn’t really matter, but something has to be set). Enable Page Builder and click the Layouts button in the toolbar. Select Clone: Pages and clone Peak Health Essentials.

This will give you access to the problem widget to allow you to copy its contents. Remove it and then save the page. if you don’t remove it, the page will become uneditable.

    Hi Alex,

Thanks for taking the time to check out what was going on.

I will do as you have requested and see what happens, i will add manually add the contents back and see what happens also. Might be something in there that shouldn’t be or broken etc.

Once I do this i will let you know what the result is.

    Hi Alex,

Little story, when i was trying to figure out what was going on few days ago, long story short i waited like 5 mins for the page to load when i wanted to edit, and when it did it defaulted to editor mode i scrolled down and saw something odd but maybe i was so tired and blurry. so fast forward to what you suggested i should do and guess what after clicking a few things to see if i could spot anything ended up click on ‘attributes’ and it froze so i waited it out for 3 mins…

once it unfroze and look what i found…

    .array(
    //////
    )

P.S. The //// was so many lines (maybe over 100 or 200 i have no idea) i had to wait until the page unfroze. I attempted to post the whole thing here but the page locked up and would probably do harm your side etc. I just deleted that from the attributes and everything seems ok.

    WOW

    Thanks Alex.

If you can shed some light on that? has that been mentioned before ? or something totally new? Or something i did ?

    Thanks

    So,

I went back to the original page and removed that spam code in the attributes box and seems to have done the trick!

Just waiting for your answers to my above comment before settling.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Pele,

    Very sorry for the delay.
Unfortunately, for whatever reason, I wasn’t notified of your reply.

This sort of thing typically happens when the server is using an older version of PHP and it has Magic Quotes enabled (which automatically added a slash to quotes but isn’t smart enough to check for an already existing slash so it keeps adding it). I would recommend getting in contact with your hosting provider to double check the PHP version on the server is an actively supported version

    Hi Alex,

No worries in the delay. Yes i had a chat with my host and we both double checked the back of things and everything was as should be.

I guess this was a case of the unexplained, but nethertheless issue is resloved.

    Thanks

I have a couple more questions i need ask can i ask here or would i have to create a new post?

    Thanks
