Hi,
I am using Hero to insert a video on top of a background image. I can insert the video using add media with no problems but I am having trouble aligning it. By default it is left aligned and I want it on the right.
The align buttons on the editor don’t seem to have any effect. Also the video auto plays even though the auto play check box in un-checked.
Any advice would be great.
Many thanks
Hi Leigh
Thanks for posting :)
The autoplay setting unfortunately only applies to YouTube videos. You could add your video to YouTube as an unlisted video and then get control over that setting.
The regular use case for the background image field when a video is present is for the background image to act as a fallback for when the video can’t be played.
For your use case, rather insert the video into the Content area. You can then set autoplay to off as follows:
Here are the parameters for the video shortcode: https://codex.wordpress.org/Video_Shortcode
That said, you’ll probably need to reconsider this approach, it isn’t really what the Hero was designed for. We could help with Custom CSS to align the video but unfortunately not under free support scope, we could help under our SiteOrigin Premium support scope.
What you might consider is a SiteOrigin Layout Slider widget. That’ll let you build a Page Builder layout for each slide. You can then use a SiteOrigin Editor widget to insert your video and place that widget in a row and column as required. Try it out on a demo page first.
Hopefully, one of the ideas above is helpful in getting this challenge resolved.
Hi, thank you for your reply Andrew the SiteOrigin Layout Slider worked well for what I wanted to do.
Super :) Thanks for the update, glad to hear you’re making progress.
Cheers for now.
