I am trying to align the logo, menu and content text so that the site looks clean and professional. I would also like to add a tagline to the left of the menu items.

Can you perhaps, clarify what you’d like to change. Are you looking to insert the logo in the same line as the menu? If so, that can be done from Appearance > Theme Settings > Layout > Masthead Layout: Logo in Menu.
I would also like to add a tagline to the left of the menu items.
There isn’t a widget area available in the menu so I recommend going to Appearance > Menus and adding a Custom Link. Insert your tagline as the link text and insert any URL. Once the item is added to the menu you can remove the URL completely. Move the new menu item in front of your home menu item. If you let us know how you’d like the tagline to look in terms of colour, font size etc. we can assist with Custom CSS.
Thanks for the reply. I am not trying to put the logo in the same line as the menu. I want the logo to remain above the menu; however, I want the logo, menu text, and page text below the sloder to all be aligned. In the current state, the logo is a little to the left, then the menu is a little to the right and then the body text is to the left.
Once the tagline is added I will want this to be aligned as opposed to
"Home" in the menu. I want the tag line to be the menu font, but in italics.

Your logo has 13px of space on the left. If you remove that it’ll shift to the left. To confirm, crop your logo to remove the space on the sides.
The menu is aligned with the site content. Hover over the home item and check the blue hover state. If you move the menu from its position, the hover wouldn’t align.
If you still want to pull the menu left you can use the following at Appearance > Custom CSS:
@media (min-width: 1100px) { body.has-menu-search .main-navigation ul { margin-left: -40px; } }Vantage doesn’t support the regular tagline field but you can add header text to Appearance > Theme Settings > Logo > Header Text. You can also use that same area to add widgets from Appearance > Widgets > Header. Using a SiteOrigin Editor widget in the header widget area provides a bit more freedom to edit. We can help you tweak that once it’s added.
