Adding link to SiteOrigin Image widget’s title

4 years ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 4 years ago

On one of the websites for our customer, there’s a SiteOrigin WordPress plugin installed.

One of the widgets that come with this plugin is SiteOrigin Image widget. There you could add a destination URL to the main image but it is not applied on the title text so basically, only the image leads works as a link which is annoying for our client. Is there an easy and elegant way to achieve it without using custom javascript or editing plugin’s widget code (or replicating the widget)?

    Hi Jane

    Thanks for reaching out.

At the moment, there isn’t a settings-based method to link the SiteOrigin Image Widget’s title to the Destination URL. You’d have to separately add an Editor or Headline widget above the Image widget and link there. I’ll chat with the team about adding a setting and get back to you.

    Hi Jane

We’ll look at adding a setting in an upcoming update. Most likely the update after next. For now, the Title field does support HTML so you could add the link markup in the Title field:

    <a href="https://siteorigin.com">SiteOrigin Title</a>

Hi Jane, the setting you requested has been developed here https://github.com/siteorigin/so-widgets-bundle/pull/1331. I don’t think it’ll make it into this next release but it’ll be in the one after that. If you’d like me to send you a development copy of the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle with the setting included, please, let me know.

Here is a beta release with the above change: https://siteorigin.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/so-widgets-bundle.1.20.2-beta.zip

With the ZIP file on your desktop you can install from PluginsAdd NewUpload Plugin, overwriting the existing version.

Thank you so much for assisting. For some other reason we had to pass the whole thing for our client at Private Snippet but the information you provided is extremely important to my team for our wordpress projects. I got your beta release and it should work best. cheers :)

    Hi Jane

Sure, no problem, glad we could help. The requested change is now included in the release version of the Widgets Bundle.

If any SiteOrigin questions arise in the future, please, feel free to open a new support thread.

    Cheers for now.
