Hi,
I was wondering if it’s possible to add a header or title to a row that has columns in it. I would like to add text above the columns but in the same row/section. Thank you.

Hi Tshum
Thanks for reaching out.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a title field available for rows. One option might be to insert a Layout Builder widget into the row, this would let you insert two rows, one with one column and then your intended multi-column row below that. You could insert a Text widget into your first row and use the title field as required. We could perhaps assist with tweaking spacing issues after that.
Thank you for the response. I added a Text widget above the middle column. But I would like everything below the “Check out what’s going on!” text to be on the same line. How would I go around that?
Sorry I wanted to post a screenshot but it doesn’t seem to be showing up.
Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on? If you need to keep this URL private from other users, just select “Private Reply” on the bottom right of the comment box.
Unfortunately I am working on my local server.
Please, try uploading a screenshot to a site like Dropbox or any cloud hosting service and send the link. We’ll take a look ASAP. Thanks.
Here is the screenshot
Thanks. It looks like there might be styling added for widget titles. Is the Check out… heading a widget title or just regular text. Is there any way you can make it a widget title given the setup of this page?
I have a Text widget with the title as Latest posts and the “Check out…” text as the content. I would like to keep that way because I added css styles to only the widget titles.
Thanks for the wait. It’s challenging to try assist with a custom CSS snippet if we aren’t able to inspect the site. We could perhaps take a look when it’s live.

Thanks for the reply. Please, could you send the link again, unfortunately it doesn’t look like it sent above.

Also another question. If I have another issue, do I have to create a new thread?
Sure, you can ask here.
The URL provided doesn’t seem to load for me or the rest of the team working at different geo locations. Does it load for you?

I managed to figure out how to format but just using full width row with the text widget on top and the layout widget below and changed the columns there.
But I have another question I have and is more backend related. How would I make the blog more dynamic as in if I have categories listed and when I click the category the posts below it will show based on the categories clicked? Do have any suggestions on how I go about doing this? I can create a new thread if it’s better. Thank you.
Are you asking about drop down archives? The only widget I’ve used in the past for that is https://wordpress.org/plugins/jquery-archive-list-widget/
Sorry if sounds confusing. For the blog page, it shows the recent posts and categories at the top. When I click on the categories, the posts should be autoload based on the categories clicked on with out taking you to a new page. Similar to how tabs when you click on a tab, the content changes based on what tab you selected while still being on the same page.
Hopefully that makes more sense.
Thanks for clearing that up. SiteOrigin unfortunately doesn’t have a widget/layout to assist with this as the moment. I haven’t used a plugin for this task in the past. That’s not to say there isn’t one out there though.
I was wondering if you can help with another problem.
I am having trouble with the grid layout for the blog. Does the grid support the excerpt options in the grid layout? I applied the options like showing post date, category, etc. But it only shows the image and text just gets cut off.
Sure. Yes, that’s correct, post meta doesn’t display in the grid layout. If you’d like to change the excerpt length we could do that using the Code Snippets plugin and a little custom snippet.
It’s ok. But now I ran into a different problem.
When I go to view the blog post, it is giving a blank white page. It works when I switch to a default theme but for some reason it doesn’t show in my vantage child theme.
To diagnose a problem like this you’d need to look at your child theme and try work out what part of it is causing the problem. If you’re working with FTP access you could remove child theme files (not functions.php or styles.css) one by one to try work out where the issue is.
Thank you. I figured out the problem. For some reason, there is a plugin called Special Recent Posts that affected the post page for the Vantage theme.
So sorry but can you help out with another problem? I’m using Yoast for SEO but for some reason it says “There are 0 words contained in the body copy. This is far too low and should be increased.” Is there a way to fix this issue? I’m afraid this will affect the search engines since this is happening on the homepage.
Thank you.
Glad to hear you found the issue.
There have been problems with Yoast content analysis tool and Page Builder. Yoast not seeing content does not mean the content isn’t there and isn’t being indexed. It’s not the same thing, robots can still see your content, it’s just the Yoast content tool that’s having an issue. Go to SettingsPage BuilderContent and make sure the Copy Content setting is enabled.
I came across another issue and was wondering if you can help me again. For some reason when I added a parent category to a category, when I go that link it automatically removed the / in between the parent and child category. For example, it goes from category/news/updates/ to /category/newsupdates/. And this is happening to only one parent category.I deactivated the plugins and reactivated them but the problem still occurs.
Mmm that’s strange. Can you perhaps, recreate this issue and send a link so we can take a look?

As you suspected, it’s working normally on my machine /updates/. Are there perhaps any layers of caching you’ve missed. WordPress caching, browser caching and then perhaps hosting level or a CDN, something like that.
Sorry to keep bothering you. I was wondering if you can tell me how to add a new css file that runs before the style.css in my child theme. I’m trying to add a normalize.css that will run before style.css but I seem to having problems. Thank you.
It’s, unfortunately, a bit beyond our scope here but I’d imagine there are threads on this topic, perhaps this one: http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/96161/how-to-enqueue-style-before-style-css. Hope that helps.
I was just wondering because for some reason, the size images of the Metaslider seem to look different on different browsers and was thinking the normalize.css can help. Thanks anyway for all your help.
For sure. Most themes already use reset.css or similar. It might be a question to raise on the Meta Slider forum page, perhaps they can assist.
Hi. Sorry to bother you again. For some reason the sidebar is not showing even though I added it a widget to the sidebar. I made it so only the blog should have the sidebar. Can you help this? Thank you.
At AppearanceCustomizeTheme DesignSidebar you have it set to None, this will completely remove the sidebar. A position must be set there.
Thank you. For some reason I thought it would be in the Theme Settings.
For sure. The Theme Settings / Theme Design split is a legacy from when we had Theme Settings outside of the Customizer. It made more sense then.
