Add Page Builder Content to $post->post_content?

Hi,

So far this plugin has been amazing and extremely helpful so thank you!

In one of my plugins I am trying to build post excerpts based on the content inside the Page Builder widgets. When trying to access the $post->post_content variable it returns empty. Is it possible to have somewhere in my functions.php an action hook that populates that variable for each post with the content inside the Page Builder widgets? I have seen some similar threads regarding the post_content but nothing specifically like this.

Any suggestions or examples for doing this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks :)

    Hi Taylor,

It sounds like Copy Content may be disabled on your site. Copy Content generates a basic version of the page that can use be used by other plugins without generating the full page builder layout. Its main purpose is mainly for excerpts. You can check this by navigating to WP AdminSettingsPage Builder and open the Content tab. Ensure Copy Content is ticked. If it’s not ticked, please tick it and then save the page you’re testing to see if post_content is now populated.

    Kind regards,
    Alex

    Hi Taylor,

Thanks for checking. Can you please send me a copy of a page you’re working on where the content isn’t being copied? To export a page, please open up the page you wish to export in the editor and click the Layout button in the Page Builder toolbar. Then click import/export and then click download. Please upload the export to a 3rd party file hosting site such as WeTransfer (no email is required).

    Kind regards,
    Alex
