Add Archives widget to post page

By sesaya, 9 years ago. Last reply by sesaya, 9 years ago.

I am using the Vantage Premium theme. On behalf of my client, I want to add a monthly archives widget to the post page. I have changed the template to full page and used page builder to add the post loop. I have tried to add a visual editor and paste the html for the archives into the widget, and I have tried to add the archives widget beside the post loop widget, but the archives widget does not show up. After I update, the html automatically goes into the editor widget, not page builder. I would appreciate your suggestion as to how I can make this work. Thank you. – Lynda

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi sesaya

Doesn’t sound like you are, but just to confirm, it’s not possible to edit Page Builder content via the Visual or Text tabs.

As long as you aren’t using the Blog page template then I’m not sure why the Archives widget wouldn’t appear when added via Page Builder next to the Post Loop widget.

Another idea is change that template to Default, add the Archives widget to Appearance > Widgets: Sidebar and use Jetpack Widget Visibility module to control where it appears.

Yes, I know it isn’t possible, but for some odd reason whether I added the archives widget or visual editor widget to Page Builder, when I update the content disappears from the widget and appears in the text tab. I also tried your second option and while it shows the content in the sidebar and shows only the post page visible, it still doesn’t show on the webpage.

    Hi, I Work Here

Please can you check that we’re not looking at a plugin conflict, please try:

    1. Run all updates that are pending at Dashboard > Updates.

    2. De-activate all plugins, at once, that aren’t made by SiteOrigin.

    3. Re-test. If the issue resolves then re-activate your plugins one at a time, check the problem after each activation.

So here’s a strange thing for you. I followed all 3 steps and the issue did not resolve. I tried to add the sidebar with visibility only on the Contact page to see if that worked, and it did. So I thought I would try one more thing to outsmart the plugin: I selected “hide” in the “customize widget” section, and I selected every page except the Post page and that worked. Now the sidebar on the Post page shows the Archives perfectly.
