Widgets, like Gallery-Widget won’t show in View Page

Hi, I came across this answer to a similar problem: https://siteorigin.com/thread/page-builder-isnt-working-in-custom-theme/

My theme, tint, which I’m developing as a child theme in Mamp, isn’t showing the galleries and some other widgets, although it did show the form from SiteOrigin.

“All Page Builder needs to output is the_content filter.

https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/the_content

Can you check that your theme is using this? A common mistake is using something like this instead:

global $post;
echo $post->post_content;
With this, there’s no way for Page Builder to add its content.”

Where do I look for ‘global $post? Some content, like text and form with ReCaptcha have been added and are viewable on the page.

My Gallery Choices How my Gallery page looks even though there have been pictures added and the page has been saved.

Thanks for any help.
Regards,
Kimberley

    Hi Kimberley

    If you’d like to email us a copy of your child theme we could take a look. You can reach us on Private Snippet.

    Thanks for responding. I discovered that the problem only exists when I use my theme’s portfolio page. I’ve since switched it to the ‘full width’ page and can now view the gallery.

    I do have further general questions that might be of use to others:
    1. What is the optimal size image for the ‘Masonry’ tiles (w/h)? As well as other gallery images, for example the slider? Is there a way to make the slider stop sliding from the viewer side?
    2. How do I disable the ‘Pin It’ button? I do not want my illustrations pinned, as Pinterest has some serious creator’s rights problems (If your work gets pinned, you are granting others the explicit right to use it. I do not wish to grant this right as it could interfere with contracts between me and my clients)

    My last question is the custom menu. I have a language switcher activated, but it isn’t showing in the menu, although it should. Why?

    Thanks for your help.

    Sure :)

    1. There isn’t an optimal size. If you were using a single column layout then your images would be as wide as your content width. At the other extreme, using a 10 column layout would render the image at a 10th of the content width minus gutter for each row. It’s up to you the quality of images you’d like to use. Keep load time in mind.

    Here is a general discussion on the matter: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/27757426/guidelines-for-choosing-between-image-size-and-image-compression-for-web-use

    2. This isn’t coming from the Widgets Bundle. It’s most likely coming from a third-party plugin. You’d need to investigate that plugin’s settings to see if you can better target which images it gets applied to.

    3. I think this question might be better answered by theme support or by the support team for the translation plugin you’re using.
