Widgets Display Wrong After Update

By jele, 7 years ago. Last reply by jele, 7 years ago.

I saw another thread on this topic but the suggested solution (clearing cache) didn’t help. All widgets are shown vertically instead of horizontally.

This is an urgent issue since the client is impatient after experiencing other problems (unrelated) and is now basically seeing a screwed up site, that is already live. I am hesitant to restore an older version because honestly at this point I don’t know what else will break.

Please help.

Thanks.

Jele

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Jele

Your content appears to be displaying properly for me. I see your rows horizontally, not vertically. In the process of clearing your cache, did you clear your browser cache too? That could be the cause of this issue.

Aaah wait, I see that something is adding the class iw-large to your page builder classes. So I assume something is modifying Page Builder code – this might not be compatible with Page Builder 2.5.

One option is to switch back to legacy layouts. In your WordPress admin, navigate to SettingsPage BuilderLayoutUse Legacy Layout Engine and make sure that’s set to Always.

Hi Greg, thanks for the fast reply.

Yes, I’ve cleared everything that I know of that can be cleared, and checked on different browsers. I’ve deactivated one of the plugins since I’m suspecting it of constantly crashing wordpress*, so you’re not seeing all site content. But everything is horizontal and glued to the left side.

I am a bit confused now as to what is the best approach. If I switch brack, what does that mean for the future? Will I have the same problem with the next update?

    Thanks,

    Jele

*Can you confirm that Codelights FlipBox causes trouble?

A quick question: “Use Legacy Layout Engine” gives me a drop down menu with three options:

    1. Detect older browsers
    2. Never
    3. Always

    Which one do I choose?

    Thanks

    Hi, I Work Here

The legacy layout engine is part of Page Builder 2.5.1, and will be part of Page Builder going forward, so you won’t get issues with the next update if this setting fixes things for you. You just lose out on some features when using it.

You’ll need to ask Codelights if they’re compatible.

    Hi, I Work Here

You’d select “Always” from that list.

    Hi Greg,

    Thanks a lot, it worked!

(Aside: Yes, Codelights claim compatibility (“SiteOrigin Widgets by CodeLights”) but I have been experiencing some trouble and was wondering if this was a known issue with you guys.)
