As per title, when I click the eye button I now get a blank/white page.
Why? And how can I get it displaying the site again?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Illumind
Thanks for reaching out.
Check SettingsGeneral and ensure that your WordPress and Site URL’s exactly match each other. If they already do, try running a plugin conflict test. Please, see below for more on how to do that.
Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.
If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.
Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.
If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.
Thank you for your reply, however none of the above worked. I didn’t try changing themes as I haven’t done that before. I’m sure it wouldn’t cause any harm, but as I’m very new to this I don’t want to create more issues than I already have. I tried downloading a few other plugins to replicate what the SiteOrigin CSS editor does, but they all require payment of some sort. Is there anything else I could use just to change header colours, that’s free? I greatly appreciate your help and time in replying.
Sure, no problem.
Temporarily changing themes won’t cause any issues.
If you’d prefer to not troubleshoot further using the above method, you’ll need to check for a distinct error. Here is how to diagnose JS errors: http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Your_Browser_to_Diagnose_JavaScript_Errors#Step_3:_Diagnosis
Replicate the issue, open the JS console as described above and let us know what you see.
I’ll get on it and reply by end of the weekend. Just been busy currently, so haven’t had a chance. I appreciate the support!
No problem :) Checking for JS errors as explained in the link above is a quick process once you know where to look. Let us know how it goes.
Apologies for the delay, I managed to get the result I was after going the long way around. However, I will likely need to get it working in future.
There is a lot in that (CTRL + SHIRT + J Firefox) section, many many lines. The most recent failed line reads:
“”Blocked loading mixed active content “http://www.papervirgins.com/?so_css_preview=1”[Learn More] load-scripts.php:4:11360″”
Does that help? Thanks again for your help and patience.
That helps, thanks. It comes back to my first question about the WordPress and Site URL and perhaps one being http and the other https. If both are https, I’m not quite sure why you’re seeing SiteOrigin CSS try load using http.
Ideas:
* Does it help if you log out of WordPress and log back in again and then go to SiteOrigin CSS?
* Any change if you install a https helper plugin like https://wordpress.org/plugins/really-simple-ssl/ ?
