What’s the diff between visual editor and site origin editor widgets

10 years ago · Last reply by lizziep 10 years ago

I am using the Vantage Premium theme and use the page builder. I have realised that some pages have been created with the Visual Editor widget and some with the Site Origin Editor widget.

In the back-of-house space, the user interface for each widget looks the same to me – and so do the published pages.

What’s the difference and does one widget have an advantage over the other?

    Hi Liz

The only difference is that the Visual Editor widget comes from a 3rd party plugin called Black Studio TinyMCE and the SiteOrigin Editor widget comes from our own SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle. We added the SiteOrigin Editor widget to our bundle earlier this year when we finished the TinyMCE field. It’s just there so that you don’t need to install an additional plugin.

Fabulous – thanks Greg. Um, what’s TinyMCE?

TinyMCE is the name of the software that powers the WordPress visual editor :)
