I have a WordPress website with the theme Focus. The video player on my site doesn’t work on Google Chrome. The problem seems to be that the website tries to use Adobe Flash for video playback on Chrome. However, in order to use Flash in Chrome you need to allow Flash for the particular site. On Safari the player works fine because Safari doesn’t have Flash player.
Is there an option to prioritize the HTML5 player over the Flash player. This way the video can play without permission for Flash.

Hi Barthold
Very sorry about the late reply. We work through a prioritized forum queue, and unfortunately it’s taken us some time to get to your thread.

Because it’s been a while since you posted this, would you mind letting us know if you still need help? If so, we’ll jump right in.
The problem isn't solved yet so i stil need help
For sure.
The player in use is jPlayer: http://jplayer.org/. It’s not using Flash. I’m struggling to play the video on desktop. Is the video playing for you in normal circumstances?
In Google Chrome the video won’t start playing when you click on play. In Firefox and Safari( on Mac OSX and iOS) the video does play fine
Thanks for the update. Can you please go to the Media Library and click on the video in question, please, send the URL in the right column. I’ll do a quick local test. I see what you’re saying about Flash.
The File is hosted on a different website. The URL is http://test.bos.email/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/How.to.Make.Money.Selling.Drugs.2012.720p.BluRay.x264.YIFY.mp4
The video seems to play for me on OS X Chrome now. Seems to be working in iOS Chrome too. Any change your side?
The video still doesn't play for me in chrome on Windows and Mac. Can you check if Flash is enabled? https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/6213033?hl=nl
I have flash enabled because some website's still use it. You still need to give permission per website in order to let flash run. The problem seems to be that the video player see's that flash is enabled and therefore doesn't load the html5 player. Flash is then blocked by default in chrome which causes the video not to play.
Can you run a quick test. Create a new page from Pages, click on the Text tab in the main editor and insert the URL, just the URL:
http://test.bos.email/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/How.to.Make.Money.Selling.Drugs.2012.720p.BluRay.x264.YIFY.mp4
Save and view the front end. Does the video play for you then?
I have created a new page: https://test.bos.email/?page_id=25 The video does now play. It does use a different video player etc.

Thanks for the test.
Going back to the original test page. I’ve disabled Flash in Chrome and the video still plays for me.
Here is what I’m seeing:
I can request further tests from the guys here at SiteOrigin tomorrow to confirm.
If I disable flash player the player works for me. But with flash enabled it doesn't. I have flash turned on because it is required on some sites.

Thanks. I mis-understood then. I have Flash turned on too. Works for me either way.
There is however a delay, it might have to do with the site being loaded from https but not having valid SSL. Here is the Console warning:
Mixed Content: The page at ‘https://test.bos.email/?p=19’ was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure plugin data ‘http://test.bos.email/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/How.to.Make.Money.Selling.Drugs.2012.720p.BluRay.x264.YIFY.mp4’. This content should also be served over HTTPS.
I have tried it over http so mixed content would not be an issue. Also I have recorded a video of my screen showing the problem. You can view it at this URL: http://test.bos.email/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/2015-10-05_161111177.mp4

Please, try two things:
1. When Flash is enabled it takes, on my side, even on my fibre line (34mbps down), a couple of seconds to play. You clicked play and then kept on clicking right away. Please, try clicking play once and then waiting a few seconds.
2. Try disabling all extensions at: chrome://extensions/ and re-test.
Even with all extensions disabled( I have also tried it in incognito mode) and while waiting around twenty seconds (My download is 20mbit) The video still doesn't play with flash enabled. With flash disabled it plays directly

Greg had a look now. It plays for him too, but also with a delay. Do you think you can try resolving the SSL issues before we dig deeper. Just so we can rule those out completely.
Thank you for the support so far. I have disabled SSL for this domain so if you go to test.bos.email it doesn't use SSL. I have also opened the Network tab in Inspect Element. If i click on the video no new request pops up for loading the video. This does happen with flash disabled. I have also saved a copy of my requests in a HAR file(You get this option if you right click on a request in the network tab. You should be able to exactly see the requests chrome did. I have sent the file as an attachment.

Working for me.
Braam, one of our developers tested in Win 8, Chrome now. Same, all working.
Not sure what else we can try.
Took one more look now. Really sorry we can’t find the problem. Challenges we can’t reproduce are always the toughest to resolve.
