I have a video that plays on the home page, using the Vantage theme slider. When I run the site through the Pingdpom speed test… it loads the video twice. Why? How can I stop this behavior?
One hint… when WPide was activated briefly by a developer working on another issue… the video in the slider stopped working… and during that time, it still loaded, but only loaded once.
Video, is of course, a larger file, and so loading twice causes a bit of a ding on home page load speeds. I have a jpg of the double-loading if it would help. Basically, it loads once… then later in the c=loading process, the slider is called and the video loads again. I swear, i am only calling for the video once – at least as far as I am aware.
Well, color me embarrassed. I found it. I had told the slider to load the video as a slider AND as a background.
Fixed. Sorry to bother. :-)
Well… no… I thought I found this issue, but I did not. Back to the original issue… I have one slider frame, with one video… but it loads twice. The order of loading is this:

Hi RailfanDepot
Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on? If you need to keep this URL private from other users, just select “Private Reply” on the bottom right of the comment box.
Also, slider related: (Same SO slider widget)
1) I have three slides. If I do nto something manually, (move the slide, go to another page, click on another tab – something – the slider will not advance. Can I force it to advance without manual input?
2) I think the answer to this is no… but, can I time each slide differently?

Curiouser and curiouser… when I add a slide on either side of the video – it stops loading twice. It now only loads once. That is a workaround I can do… but see my questions on timing and auto sliding.
Site has now moved off dev site to live site – though behind a maintenance screem: railfandepot.com
