I’m not sure exactly when this happened, but I updated a client’s WordPress install a couple weeks ago and in the process the Vantage Pro homepage got switched off (reverting to the blog), and when I turned it back on, all of the content, icons, etc. had been deleted. How do I avoid this from happening in the future? Very nasty bug… I had to start over from scratch.

Hi Filmjabber
What version of wordpress did you update from. There were some major changes in the last major update that did cause possible errors with the custom Home Page. The content was not removed it just made changes to what was considered to be the home page, resetting to the default blog page. This affected all themes that use the wordpress customizer.
If you have not already re-created your page you should be able to get it back by navigating to Appearance->Customize->Static Front Page and changing the setting back to Home page for the front page.
Let us know how you get on

Thanks, Magus. I am not sure which version I updated from–but it was probably at least 9 months old. I’m pretty sure I followed the steps you described to turn the static front page back on, but even when I did, all of the text and settings were no where to be found (it went live with all the default placeholders). I ended up resurrecting the content from scratch. So if it did exist, I likely overwrote it, but I can confirm that I reactivated the static home page and the content did not reappear.
Hi filmjabber
Sorry to hear about the hassle. Are you still experiencing any issues with your home page or anything else?
