vantage premium on a multisite network

By boyington, 10 years ago. Last reply by Andrew Misplon, 9 years ago.

Hi,

I am running a WPMU network with thousands of subsites on it.

I have network activated the free vantage theme v1.2

Some of the subsite admins have bought the premium vantage from your site and are asking if I could install it for them on my network and give me their order number for that.

Before doing that, I have 3 questions:

– if I upgrade vantage for one of my subsites, will it have an incidence on other subsite ?
– do I have the right to do that as far as they bought a single license ?
– will I be automatically notified of future vantage premium updates ?

Thanks for your help

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi boyington

    Thanks for your interest.

If you upgrade Vantage on one site it’ll upgrade them all. To make this really easy you could do this for $50 on our multi-site license. That’s the easiest solution here. Everyone would get premium, one order number would be inserted under Settings > General in our order number field for each site and automatic upgrades would still come through via Dashboard > Updates.

If you just wanted to upgrade the one site you’d need to manually install Vantage Premium in your themes folder. The link to download this ZIP file is in the order confirmation email. Before uploading the folder in it’s un-zipped format to your themes folder you’d need to call it something else, vantage-premium for example. By renaming the folder I’m able to run Vantage Free and Premium side by side on my local multi-site installation so I assume you’d be able to do it on your server.

Thanks for this quick reply Andrew,

So if I rename and manually install the premium theme, will it automatically notify me of available updates on the network theme dashboard ?

    Hi, I Work Here

It will. You can confirm this is happening by at some point doing a check of the changelog vs your version number: http://updates.siteorigin.com/readme/vantage/. Just be sure to insert the order number under Settings > General once the manual installation has been carried out.

    Thanks for this precision.

So we installed Vantage Premium separately from free vantage and now I see the following versions:

    – free vantage: v1.2
    – vantage premium: v2.2

Are they the last up to date versions ?

    Hi, I Work Here

Super, glad to hear that’s gone ok so far. Yes, those are the current versions.

I just checked the page http://updates.siteorigin.com/readme/vantage/ and It seems that current version of vantage premium is now 2.2.3

But the my vantage premium is still on v2.2

Did something fail with the auto update ?

    Hi, I Work Here

Can you perhaps confirm for me that nothing is available at Network Admin > Updates.

    I confirm.

    Hi, I Work Here

I just chatted with Greg and did some further testing now. I didn’t previously realise this. Our updater unfortunately doesn’t work with Multi-Site. The updater inside Vantage has to loaded for it to check the update servers. In the multi-site admin no theme code is loaded, causing the issue. Sorry about this, you’ll need to manually update. If you have access to your purchasing PayPal email address, you can get your ZIP download link from: https://siteorigin.com/orders/. Sorry again for the hassle and incorrect info supplied on this point.
