Vantage Premium and Custom CSS

11 years ago · Last reply by Greg Priday 11 years ago

Hi,

Firstly, thank you for Vantage Premium and the Site Origin widget bundles. This was my first WP site taken start to finish and I wouldn’t have achieved it without SiteOrigin.

My query concerns child themes and the “Custom CSS” option within the WP dashboard. When I purchased Vantage Premium, I moved any custom CSS from the main stylesheet into the “Custom CSS” page, as well as any core stylesheet CSS changes that I made (my thinking being that anything on the Custom CSS page wouldn’t be overwritten in the event of a theme update).

I then started reading up on child themes within the WP Codex and was hoping to gain some clarification as to whether my understanding of the Custom CSS page function is correct, or whether I should be using a Vantage child theme for that purpose.

Thanks and regards,

    Hi Mitchell

Thanks so much for your kind words, and the very generous price you chose to pay for Vantage. Your support means a lot.

We added the custom CSS editor as a sort of shortcut to customizing your design, without the need to build an entire child theme. Generally, creating a child theme is overkill if all you want to do is modify the design. The Custom CSS editor is the perfect fit for these sorts of modifications.
