Vantage not recognized by child

By FrozenMan, 9 years ago. Last reply by FrozenMan, 9 years ago.

As with others in this forum, I am having issues getting a child theme to work with the primary theme. The style sheet begins with:

/*
Theme Name: Vantage Child
Author: SiteOrigin
Template: vantage
Version: 1.0.0
*/

@import url(“../vantage/style.css”);

which was cut and pasted directly from this forum (quote marks corrected). The result is”

“The parent theme is missing. Please install the “Vantage” parent theme.”

I don’t get it. What am I missing?

    Well, in all my stumbling around I think I have hit upon the issue, at least for myself, perhaps others as well.

    TABS vs SPACES

    I recently reinstalled my editor and neglected to change the settings which replace the tab key with spaces. I am guessing that WordPress is not coded to handle the tab character in code and it confuses the parsing logic. Changing the settings in my editor and ensuring that the tabs in my code are replaced with spaces seems to have solved my problem. Perhaps this is the issue others have been having as well.

    Hi FrozenMan

    Glad to hear you managed to resolve.

    If anyone else is after a vanilla child theme they can get started with, please find one here:
