I know this has to be simple…I’m trying to add a link for an external URL in one of my pages, but the Add Link icon doesn’t seem to do anything. I just want to add a button or a “click here” or something so that I don’t have to show the entire url. What am I missing?

Just to be more clear its the “Insert/Edit” icon in the page toolbar.

    Hi Nancy

Is it possible that you’ve edited your page using our Page Builder plugin and then are trying to add a link via the regular Visual tab afterwards? If so, it’s not possible to edit Page Builder content from the Visual or Text tabs. If you need an easy to use text editor in Page Builder we recommend the Visual Editor widget which you can get access to by first installing the following plugin: http://wordpress.org/plugins/black-studio-tinymce-widget/.

Thanks. I’ve downloaded, installed and activated the plugin, but I don’t see it anyway in available widgets. I’ve activated and deactivated, refreshed and its not showing up. any suggestions? I see some tutorials about adding images…are there any good ones that show how to use for adding hyperlinks/

I finally figured out its now called visual editor. Ok its there, but I can’t drag it. If its already in my page builder the insert link thing still isn’t working.

    Hi, I Work Here

If the insert link button isn’t working there or in the regular Visual Editor tab then it’s possible that you have a plugin conflict. Please temporarily de-activate all of your plugins besides Page Builder and re-test.

Yup! It was a conflict with the Comprehensive Google Map Plug in 9.0.20…never would have guessed. Thanks for the tip. Fortunately I don’t need the map.

Now that the insert link icon works (yeah)….it seems to only show the full url link, e.g., http://www.xyz.com….but doesn’t have an option to add a button or a word?

    Hi, I Work Here

Glad to hear you made progress there.

From within Page Builder or a widget area you can add a button widget if that’s what you need. The regular link popup window works as follows, type the word you want to link, highlight it, then click the chain/link icon and link the word.
