Vantage Child Problems

I followed instructions to create my style.css file and placed in my newly created vantage-child directory. When I look at “themes” in WP, the child theme is totally blank. I used this line in the style.css file, @import url(“../vantage/style.css”);
I only previewed the child theme. Since it is blank, I haven’t activated it.

    Hi fkgibbs

    Perhaps give my vanilla child theme a try:

    https://siteorigin.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/vantage-child-vanilla-enqueue.zip

    Download the ZIP to your desktop and install from Appearance > Themes > Add New: Upload Theme.

    Hope that helps.

    Andrew,

    Thank you. I installed the theme, but it appears to be the same as the one I originally installed. It is totally blank. I was expecting the child to look like the original theme. Are my expectations incorrect. I’m quite new to this process. So, please excuse the repeated questions.

    If you’re getting a white page after activation then there is a problem.

    If however what you’re seeing is a loss of your Customizer, menu and widgets settings, that’s normal. After activating a child theme you need to redo Appearance > Customizer, Appearance > Menu and Appearance > Widgets settings/placements.
