Love Site Origin. I’m trying to build stripes of color using rows in the Layout Builder and the Editor Widget for the color.
My problem is getting them to expand Height-wise so they bump into the next stripe without padding. Ho do I expand their height. It should be really easy, but I keep getting white stripes between the colored ones. Anyone know what to do? I’m new at this so I don’t fiddle with the HTML. I have been trying to solve the problem with Site Origin CSS.
Hi Carol,
I’ll give you a hand with the CSS. Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on? If you need to keep this URL private from other users, just select “Private Reply” on the bottom right of the comment box.
Thanks for the response, Alex. I have worked around the problem by creating a header in jpg and uploading it as an image. But it doesn’t solve the problem. It’s only a bandaid to get the site up and public. I would like to reach out to you in a few days when you can see what I’m trying to do in Site Origin.
Hi Carol,
Send me a message when able and I’ll look into the issue.
Hi, Alex S.,
Our site is up. Please visit http://www.MyEyeOnTowns.com.
I want to build the striped header using Site Origin in WordPress. The top white stripe will house my logo at left and an ad at right.
It sounded so easy. However, white stripes appear separating all the Site Builder rows. (I was using three) I tried to eliminate margins and buffers, but just screwed up the page. I ended up building an image in desktop publisher and uploading the wholw header. Which means… I would have to change the image every time I want to change the ad. Not good.
This same header (with slight editorial modification) will showcase our six subdomains that I’m trying to build.
Can you tell me how to do it, please. I’m just learning all this tech stuff.
Hi Carol,
That’s actually quite tricky – not impossible though. :) I’ll have to get back to you on this. I have a couple of questions. Will this appear exactly the same on every page? Do you intend on using a navigation in the future?
It will only be on the home page of my mother-site and the homepage of six sub-domains, no other pages. There will be no navigation to other pages in the green stripes. In the white stripe I need to be able to change the ad. Did I understand your navigation question correctly? Thanks for all your help.
Hi Carol,
Thank you for the information. I’ll set something up and send it to you over the weekend as I won’t have enough time to dedicate to it until then. Is that okay?
That’s terrific, Alex. Thanks. Meanwhile I’m trying to set up my network of sites to utilize your widgets.
Hi Alex,
Have you come up with anything for rows of color?

Thank you for the reply.
Can I still use Site Origin Plugins? Or will they interfere with my theme?

Thank you, Alex. I love your plugins & widgets. I have had one problem though which I have had to work around. It would be wonderful if you could tell me how to make it functional. The Site Origin Editor/ visual lets me add text, but I cannot customize it – color , italic, bold. It does let me add links. Is this because I am using the SG Window Theme. Do themes dominate plugins and widgets? I can live with it, but it hampers creativity.
Thank you for taking time to teach a newcomer.
Hi Carol,
Typically the theme can force it’s styling over plugins but it’s only really if the theme author decides to. With that said, so can plugins.
Could you link (or point out a section) me to a page with an example so I can check the markup?
