Using different logos on child themes

By Thibaste, 9 years ago. Last reply by Daniel, 9 years ago.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any method of using different logos with child themes?

I am using Vantage Premium and whenever I change the logo on a child theme it changes the logo on the main theme. Any help would be great

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Thibaste

A child theme in WordPress is not a separate Theme as WordPress displays it. It is an extension to it’s parent theme allowing you to make alterations without directly affecting the parent theme files.

Basically the child theme inherits everything you do not change from it’s parent, so when you are changing the Logo setting under Theme Settings you are actually changing the Vantage Premium setting instead.

You can make these alterations with some customization in your child theme but that is beyond the scope of what can be offered on these forums.

If you need these changes you could open a request on https://codeable.io/ where someone may be able to help further.

    Hope this helps

    Hi Thibaste

As @Magus has elaborated, A child theme only inherits styling and functionality of a parent theme. A child theme is only used to modify the existing theme.

Feel free to open a new thread whenever you require support

    Thank you for running Vantage.

So in that case, is there anyway to duplicate a theme completely and have it independently?

Basically what I would like to do is offer my readers the choice of two themes. An xbox theme and a playstation themes, each one has a variation of my logo

    Hi Thibaste

You could try making a second website and put a link pointing to the other, but if you specific about duplicating the theme unfortunately, this isn’t possible without a fair amount of custom coding.

Am afraid this is beyond the scope of what we can help you with on the forums, but you could hire a developer to implement this for you. We highly recommend using https://codeable.io/.

    Cheers
