Use Image Map to Customize Header?

Hey,

I’m wanting a little more flexibility in my header, while retaining responsiveness.

I want to be able to lay out my masthead custom to include our logo, our tagline, & phone number…but from my research I don’t think it’s possible with the regular theme settings.

Is there a way I can create an image on GIMP, make an image map, and then import it so that’s what shows on top of the menu? Would that be considered a background image? What size should I make the image?

Any advice will be much appreciated! Cheers! It’s Friday!

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Cassie

    Thanks for reaching out.

Have you had a chance to check out AppearanceWidgetsHeader? Widgets added to that area will appear horizontally on the right side of the header.

I’ve you’d like to display the site tagline next to the logo you can try the following child theme which adds tagline support.

    https://siteorigin.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/vantage-child-tagline-support.zip

    To try the child theme:

    1. Download the ZIP to your desktop.
    2. Install from AppearanceThemesAdd New: Upload Theme.

It’s normal for menu location and Customizer settings to reset when activating a child theme.

We haven’t done any work with an image map in WordPress. If you can add the image map via the media library then you could add one via AppearanceWidgetsHeader. I’m not sure you would be able to add one via AppearanceCustomizeTheme DesignPage.
