When attempting to authenticate Dropbox to allow a back-up via Updraft i get the following message;
“Dropbox authentication error: The storage encrypter requires the PHP MCrypt extension to be available. Please check your PHP configuration.”
I apologise that I am the least tech person to ever darken your digital doorway but please can you point me in the right direction, as the above means nothing to me.
Hi phil
Sorry to bounce you around here but I’d recommend sending this over to the Updraft forum: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/updraftplus. In the past their team has been helpful and quick to respond.
If I had an answer I’d certainly let you know. I’m unfortunately unsure how to quickly resolve.
Andrew, many thanks I have spent some time ‘bouncing around’ at Updraft to no avail.
I have now switched the back-up space to Google Drive and after following the instructions from UPD have managed to authenticate… ta-daaah
HOWEVER, the ‘backup now’ button is greyed out – is this something you can help with please?
Sorry to hear that. These edge cases can be tough to deal with, I understand the frustration.
I’d love to help get you sorted out, but this is a specific plugin question about a plugin neither Greg or myself have used in the past. We unfortunately, would again, need to send you back to the authors for assistance with that. I’m afraid we wouldn’t be of much help on something like this.
Ok, understand and have abandoned UD in favour of the remarkably simple BackupWordPress from Human Made…
For anyone having similar problems this one allows not only a very very non-tech set-up, AND auto back-ups which seem to be restricted to premium versions elsewhere, but also a download to local storage and simultaneous attachment to confirmation emails.
Thanks for sharing.
