unexplicable pink sqaures

I have migrated, this : http://chronosldc.com/
To this : http://cldc.dbjdbj.org/

AFAIS they are now both identical , but the bottom post slider widget shows this pink square instead of featured images on two pages. And only for these two pages?

spot the pink areas http://cldc.dbjdbj.org/

I am sure you can decipher this is WP 4.4.1, Sydney Free , all the SO plugins, widgets etc … On both sides.

Please advise …

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Dusan

This sounds like it could be a plugin conflict issue. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme (which you mentioned you’re not), then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

    Hi Greg,

Sites are really identical. At least plugins and theme are identical.
The only difference is the one that works is part of WPMU.

But ok I switched all plugins beside SG ones. And http://cldc.dbjdbj.org/ still show these two damned pink squares instead of featured images. On the bottom slider on pages called “Tips” And “Cosmetics Enhancing Dentistry” ..

    Please advise :)

But … after few minutes and all non SO plugins switched off pink squares are gone … now let me switch them back one by one.

    OK.

Jetpack connect –> pink squares are back
JetPack disconnect –> all is well
Jetpack connect –> pink squares are back
JetPack disconnect –> all is well

tried, retried … the same effect.

    Huh?

    ps: Plugins situation: http://cldc.dbjdbj.org/plugins-used/

    Ok here is more :)

    1.
for some reason png’s are not shown in medial library grid view (just as grey page icons)
    2.
changed featured images to jpg’s in “offending” pages and all is well? with JetPack connected as well.
    check http://cldc.dbjdbj.org/

JetPack is connected. JetPack “Photon” is Active. “Tilled Galeries” are off.

This png issues … is this known?

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Dusan

The pink squares are the placeholders for post featured images. It sounds like there might be a problem with images being loaded via Photon. Deactivating Photon is definitely an option. You could perhaps investigate another media CDN if that’s important for this project.

As many know form before. Photon is definitely a culprit.

But now I have this png vs jpg confusion in my head :) Apparently no png no problem…

    Hi, I Work Here

Featured images should load regardless of being PNG or JPG. Do you have an example we can see where JPG isn’t working? Does the problem persist if you delete the JPG and add it again?

  10. 8 years, 8 months ago dbjdbj

Guys, this site is the example. As I said above: “for some reason png’s are not shown in media library grid view (just as grey page icons)” … that was a first clue that something is wrong. After that I replaced png’s with jpg’s also explained in previous post … one of them..

    Capture

here it is … png’s not shown in media lib …

    Hi, I Work Here

    Thanks for the recap.

One idea is that there is an issue with the media storage folder. These two threads discuss that possibility. It’s likely to the be the case if the site was recently moved.

We can test this out. Click on one of the PNG’s in your Media Library and copy the image URL that’s in the right column. Is it correct? When you paste it into your address bar, does the image load?
