Theme not uploading

Hi,

I am new to Word Press so I think it might be a quick fix.

I am downloaded a great theme called Focus: https://siteorigin.com/theme/focus/

It’s perfect for me but when I upload the .zip file it doesn’t seem to look at all similar to the theme downloaded.

The link above shows what the focus theme looks like but if you see my website www.pascalhughes.com

you will see that it’s nothing like the theme. Sorry if I am being a tad slow, it might be an simple mistake I have made but after two days trying to fix it any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Pascal

    Thanks for reaching out.

    You most likely have a static home page assigned. Head to Settings > Reading and leave Static Home Page and un-selected. Then ensure that all of your posts have Featured Images added:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/

    Your site should start to come together from there.

    Thanks so much Andrew.

    I clicked settings > Reading

    and the only option that looked right was called ‘front page displays’ it gave me the option of clicking on:

    ‘Your Latest Post’ or ‘A Static Page (select below)’

    does that sound right? It did change it from being selected as ‘A Static Page’ to ‘Your Latest Post’ which did change the webpage slightly. I then added a couple of photos and video to the featured images added but that didn’t work.

    I tried on a PC and my Mac and it seems to not be working. Any ideas?

    ah actually your advice seems to have helped. I will have a play with the site some more and see if I can get it going. Thanks

    Alas it doesn’t seemed to have worked. was clicking Static Home Page on ‘Your Latest Post’ a good idea?

    Apologies. Yes, Front page displays must be set to Your latest posts.

    ah okay yes I have done this, but the site (pascalhughes.com) still seems to be playing up. I think it might be best to reset everything and re-upload the theme again. Do you know if this is easy to do? worth doing?

    i have uploaded a video and a few photos but it hasn’t seemed to work. It appears that even if the videos were uploaded the site would still look nothing like the template. any suggestions? It’s been three days trying to make various templates work and they all look nothing like the ones i download. not ideal.

    // Featured Images (NB):

    The demo as you see it on our site is functioning off Featured Images, if you edit a post, the featured image box is in the right column. Have you added featured images to each post? By default Focus doesn’t use videos for the slider or the home page grid. Please see the link I’ve posted above to see the WordPress tutorial on adding featured images.

    Cheers, will check over that. Was trying to sort featured images but cleary not adequately. Will look over the tutorial now

    For sure.

    So default Focus behaviour, each post must have featured image added:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/

    Augmented Focus behaviour, use plugin to grab featured image from video:
