Static Home Page can’t delete slider

I created a static home page, went to settings reading, and selected the page I wanted for my static page but it is still including the home page slider. I’ve deleted my page (several times) and tried creating a new page and selecting that page as my static home page but it continues to add the slider in. Please help this is driving me nuts! I have custom home page turned off.
