Slider widget delay in starting slidesho

I’ve created a slider with 6 images and a delay of 2 seconds for each image. It loads ok but does not start the animation onto the next image for 20 seconds or until I click on the navigation. Then it works fine – every 2 seconds moving to the next image.
I’m using the Canvas theme so that it pretty stable.
Any ideas?
