SiteOrigin Map Widget

By Freshspace, 6 years ago. Last reply by Alex S, 6 years ago.

Hi,

We’ve had Site Origin installed on a site we built approximately 2 years ago. In the most part it’s gone brilliantly but we’re now having a serious issue with the Map Widget.

It shows in the backend and all the settings appear correct but in the front end absolutely nothing displays at all. It’s a Proteus Theme which it’s integrated with. Does anyone else have this issue or any idea on how it can be fixed?

Additionally we using the WooCommerce Brand Pro plugin. It comes with it’s own brand carousel widget which integrates with the SiteOrigin page builder. This also seems to have stopped working around the same time. Now displaying the logos vertically rather than horizontally.

We presume there is some sort of conflict but we’re completely at a loss as to with what and how to fix it.

Thanks,
E

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Freshspace,

To confirm, have you added an API key to your Google Map? If not, Google Maps now requires an API key to be used. To create an API key please click here and click Getting Started on that page – select Maps and fill out your billing details.

Once you’ve generated the API, simply add it to your Google Maps widget.

If adding an API key doesn’t help, do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on?
If you have added an API key, do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on?

Regarding your last question. Hm. That sounds like a general plugin conflict. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

    Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Sorry for the late reply, we’ve been particularly busy. Yes, the map has an API key.

The map should appear on this page – https://www.pigney.co.uk/contact-us/ but as mentioned, it’s not visible other than in the backend. Can you see anything from that?

As for the second issue that has now been resolved. It was a conflict with another plugin which we’ve managed to rectify.

    Thanks again,
    Eilidh

    Hi Eilidh,

Thanks. There are a few JavaScript errors present on your linked page which suggests this may be affecting the Google Maps widget.
