Hello Forum,
I am having some issues with CSS written in the Custom CSS.
I make CSS changes in the Custom CSS, save it, go to the front-end view, refresh the page but the new CSS does not appear…!
As a test, I added the same CSS in the Customize / Additional CSS and this DOES appear in the front-end.
Does anybody have an idea why this is happening???
Hi David
Thanks for reaching out.
Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at what’s going on?
No problem Andrew,
Here you go – https://staging.drdainc.org/
It's a development site for a site that is already up and running, built with the same Theme (Vantage) and plugins.
Just to keep it simple, I added the following CSS to "Appearance / Custom
CSS"
div#secondary {
background: #497849;
border-radius: 5px;
padding: 10px;
}
Saved it, then refreshed the front-end and nothing…
However, if I add the same CSS to "Appearance / Customise / Additional
CSS", saved (Published) and refresh the front-end, I see my CSS changes.
I have been working with SiteOrigin products, and especially the theme
"Vantage" for year and never had an issue…!
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi David
Thanks for the details. All seems normal on my end. Might it be a local browser caching issue?

Thank you for a having a look for me.
I'll see what I can do with it. My web host is pretty good with issues like this, I'll get them to give the subdomain a look over to make sure I configured everything correctly.

Hi David
Sure, no problem.
All looks normal when I view the page so I’m not sure there is a hosting issue. Is there perhaps a caching in your local browser? You could perhaps try checking the site using another browser or a private browsing window. Does the issue persist?
Yeah, it seems to be a Chome issue as other browsers show the correct CSS from either Custom CSS or Additional CSS.
I found a short-term fix. Seeing as this is a development site and it's only me looking at it, I opened Chrome, Dev Console / Network / checked
"Disable cache".
A quick look around the internet tells me it's an ongoing issue with
Chome… Hopefully, it won't be an issue when it's migrated to be live…!
I don't get this issue with the live site.
Thanks for the update.
The CSS is working normally for me in Chrome but that’s probably because it’s the first time I’m viewing the site. I’ve updated the below link to also show a Chrome screenshot:

If the issue persists when you go live or later down the line. Please, let us know and we’ll take another look.
No problem Andrew,
Thanks again for your help.
