SiteOrigin CSS editor not working with WordPress Shoreditch Theme

7 years ago · Last reply by Andrew Misplon 7 years ago

I installed the SiteOrigin CSS plugin on two of my WordPress sites, yourlifepurpose.com and walkforyouth.com. It works on the first site which is using the Beacon theme, but it does nothing on the second site which uses the Shoreditch WordPress theme.

Any assistance on this issue would be greatly appreciated because there is very little published about CSS functions for the Shoreditch theme.

    Hi Anthony

Please, try temporarily switching to Twenty Sixteen or any other default WordPress theme to confirm that it’s a theme conflict. If it is a theme conflict, confirmed, please check for JavaScript errors and send us the details:

Thanks for the quick response Andrew.

I'll try your suggestion about temporarily switching to another more common WordPress theme to see if the problem goes away.

Super, let us know how that goes.

    Hi Andrew,

I tried your suggestion and switched to the WordPress Twenty-Seventeen theme, and the same problem occurred. So I guess the problem is not with the Shoreditch theme.

I then activated the JavaScript console in Google Chrome and got the following error showing up when I clicked on the “eye” button in SiteOrigin CSS Editor:

    Looking forward to you suggestions,

Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

    Hi Andrew,

Great suggestion, and right away I realized that the only plugin that was new to the site walkforyouth.com that I did not have on my main site yourlifepurpose.com was the Countdown Timer plugin. As soon as I disabled this plugin, SiteOrigin CSS Editor worked right away. Below is a screen shot of that plugin. What I can do for now is to temporarily disable that plugin, make my CSS changes to the website, and then re-enable that plugin. What do you think of that approach?

    Thanks in advance,
    Anthony

Thanks. I have the same issue with the plugin mentioned. If you can work around it, that’ll be the easiest solution for the moment.

    Excellent Andrew.

    I’ll give that a try.
