SiteOrigin CSS editing or copying text

Howdy,
been using SiteOrigin CSS for a couple of weeks now, and I really like it. Formerly, I used the CSS editor from JetPack, but that one took itself out of business when cramming itself into the Customizer.

But to me it seems there is something of a bug in SiteOrigin CSS. I use the code editor. When trying to delete part of the CSS, by using Shift-Arrow, it’s hardly possible to select text: it just doesn’t select. Same goes for deleting using Backspace, where my cursor more often than not suddenly jumps to the very first line in the stylesheet.

This is especially annoying when copy/pasting parts of the stylesheet, or when pasting styles from my browser (usually Development tools in Chrome). It means often the only time to get the styles in correctly is by just typing them.

Problem occurs both in Chrome and in Edge, no copy/paste problems of any kind in any other program or site.

Would like to know if this is a bug or if not, how to fix this.

Grtz,

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Eric,

I can replicate these issues in Edge – consider them logged.

I can’t seem to replicate this in Chrome however. For reference, here’s me selecting text via shift arrows and then deleting it with a backspace:

I suspect this may be a plugin conflict. Can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.

If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.

Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.

If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.

    Hi Alex,

finally got around to test this… seems I was mistaken. Couldn’t reproduce the problem, not in Chrome nor in FireFox. But the problem persists in Edge: not being able to select parts of the stylesheet and cursor sometimes jumping to the top of the stylesheet. Disabling plugins and clearing cache does not solve the problem for Edge.

So guess this issue is brought back to just one browser…

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Espace66,

Please ensure you the latest version of SiteOrigin CSS installed and that you’ve cleared your browser cache. We recently released an update that should have fixed the Edge issue for you.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Espace66,

Oh, and to clarify, the latest version is 1.1.3. If it still doesn’t work for you, can you please try the above-mentioned plugin conflict test? We actually did a serious library update so it’s quite possible there could be a new conflict introduced by the update.

    Howdy Alex,

alright, will look into it asap but could take me a couple of days. Just checked, on all appropriate sites I’ve got this version 1.1.3 installed. Been working with FF / Chrome (one logged in, the other just for viewing code) and these still work without any problems. Will test Edge asap. Thanks so far.

    Howdy Alex,

well, been using the CSS editor on two different sites, both in Edge, and seems the problem is gone. Selecting text, copying and pasting, and editing now works just fine. So I guess you guys solved the problem.
Thanks for your reply and efforts!
