Hello,
I am currently testing out the SiteOrigin’s Contact Form on the Bento Theme and I am not getting any messages from it. It will say that the form was submitted successfully but I do not receive any messages to my email. This site is in “Coming Soon” Mode, would this have anything to do with blocking the contact form from sending messages?
Hi Awilson,
Would it be possible for you to send me an export for your contact form? To do this please open up the contact page in the editor and click the Layout button in the Page Builder toolbar. Then click import/export and then click download. Please upload the export to a 3rd party file hosting site such as teknik.io.
This is very unlikely.
Hello Alex,
Thanks for the reply. I uploaded the layout to teknik.io here:https://u.teknik.io/BhIip.json
Hi Awilson,
Very sorry for the delay.
Oddly, I wasn’t notified of your reply.
I’ve run a few tests with the provided layout and it worked without issue for me. Hm. I suspect the issue may be the email you’ve set the from email to. Can you please set it to [email protected]? (replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain)
Also, can you try disabling all non-SiteOrigin plugins and see if this fixes the issue? You’ll need to clear all your caches after disabling your plugins.
If it does fix the issue, then try re-enabling your plugins one by one until the issue comes back. This procedure will help diagnose which plugin is causing the issue.
Once we know that, we’ll be able to look at what might be causing the conflict and either solve the problem or help you find an alternative plugin.
If you aren’t using a SiteOrigin theme, then you can also try temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress themes to see if the issue is theme related.
Hello Alex,
Pardon the late reply, just wanted to let you (and anyone else with this issue) know that once I changed the sender name to what you suggested I finally got the email sent to me (yay!). However, I noticed it went to my junk email folder. I have the “Use Akismet Filtering” checkbox clicked in the contact form settings, is this causing the issue or is it something to do with my own email settings? I have also heard that having [email protected] as your sender email can cause the emails to be considered spam, is this true? Thanks for your help!
Hi Awilson,
Sorry for the delay.
To clarify, are other emails sent from your website flagged as spam?
The Akismet setting will only do something if you have Akismet is installed. If it is installed, it’ll either block the submission or label it as potential spam – which one depends on settings. There’s nothing it can specifically do to flag it as spam itself.
I haven’t heard that but if you’re worried, try setting it to something else.
