Hi, I used the Site Origin Contract Form widget and entered my email information in the ‘Settings’. When I tested it by clicking on the ‘Contact Us’ button, I don’t see an email sent into my email. I checked the SPAM and Junk email and there are no mail there. I also disabled all of the non essential plug-ins to see if that made a difference, but it is still not sending. I’m not familiar with CSS code and new to WordPress so if anyone can leave some detailed steps, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi Dyan,
Can you please tell me what plugins you didn’t disable? (so I can check if they’re the problem) Also, would it be possible for you to temporarily change to a different theme?
Hi Alex,
Thank you for replying back so promptly.
I temporarily switched themes, disabled Sydney Toolbox plug in, and it still didn't work.
I currently have the following plugins activated:
Akismet
Hi Dyan,
Hm. Akismet could be rejecting the submission. Please open the Contact Form settings and open the Spam Protection settings group and then the Akismet settings group. Untick Use Akismet Filtering and set Spam Action to Tag as Spam in Subject.
Now try submitting again – does that work?
Hi Alex,
When I unticked the 'Use Akismet Filtering' box and set Spam Action to 'Tag as Spam in Subject', the email would not be sent and the screen would vibrate really fast.
I tried to leave the setting for Spam Action to 'Show error message' and send, but no email would send
I tried deactivating and deleting Akismet and sent again in case it really was the culprit, but it would not send.
Would it have to do anything with my SMTP setting anywhere?
Hi Dyan,
Vibrate? Uh, that’s weird – never seen that happen before. Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at your contact form?
Are you using SMTP? If so, is it possible to check your SMTP server for a log of emails that weren’t able to be delivered? Also, what plugin are you using to set these settings?
Hi Alex, please take a look at http://test06.bycustomdesign.com/contact-us
I added the Akismet plug in and activated it but I don't have an account with them so it is not configured. Not sure if that will block emails. I think it should just not do it's job at blocking spam.
Hi Dyan,
I just tried filling out the form – anything?
Akismet won’t do anything if you haven’t added an API key.

Hi Alex,
I didn't receive an email. I'm working with the web designer now to figure what may be causing this issue…if it is SMTP related. Once I figure it out, I will post it so that people can look into the solution if they see similar issues in the future.
