Site Information Text adds 9o0a at the end of an url

By ChookChook, 9 years ago. Last reply by Andrew Misplon, 9 years ago.

Hi Guys,
Great theme and I’m having fun checking it out :)
However, I think I’ve found a bit of a bug. It’s been replicated it in 2 separate clean installs too.

When following instructions on https://siteorigin.com/vantage-documentation/theme-settings/general/
entering Example in the Site Information Field
The link generated at the footer has additional characters to it.
In this example it shows up as http://www.example.xn--com-9o0a/

Any clues to get rid of those phantom characters so the link goes to where it’s suppose to go?

Cheers

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi ChookChook

Thanks for your support, we appreciate it!

Any chance you have malware on your browser or computer? Your link looks as follows on my side:

    <a href="//www.example.com”">Example</a>

You could confirm by checking on another computer, if possible.

On another note, it should look like this:

    <a href="http://www.example.com">Example</a>

I added http: and removed the last inverted commas as they were a duplicate.

    Thanks Andrew.

Yes I was able to check on a few different computers (we have so many here) and it was the same.
I checked your code from the above compared with what I had on the Theme Settings / Site Information Text and it was exactly the same. O_o! Strange!!

Then I Copied and Pasted your code into the Site Information Text field – saved and checked.. It worked!?!

To prove what was happening I repeated what I previously did. Copy and Pasted the Code from the Example page (https://siteorigin.com/vantage-documentation/theme-settings/general) and this showed the issue again.
The result, copying and pasting the code from the Example page causes this bazaar problem. I’m guessing here that when doing that the clipboard captures something and pastes it too.

    Thanks for the help :)

Just found that when copying the code from the example page the inverted commas caused the problem.

Even if the code is copied to Notepad and then pasted into the Site Information Text field.

    Hi, I Work Here

I think the issue is that in the docs, the inverted commas aren’t plain text. Let me jump in and wrap those in some code tags. Sorry for the hassle that caused! Glad you managed to resolve the problem.
