Site backups with Page Builder

Hi,

We have a problem with backups for sites using Page Builder. It’s the standard problem from 2 years ago (judging by the forums), and relates to widget content being very broken (either missing content, or missing the widget layout and containing strange characters).

Is this still not resolved for standard MySQL backups (mysqldump/mysql/phpmyadmin etc.)?

I don’t understand how this can still be an issue after two years. Presumably all the data is stored in either the file system or database, so is it an encoding problem with mysqldump? mysqldump/mysql should produce an exact copy of the database, and yet performing this on our sites renders them useless, and requires us to rebuild them from scratch.

We manage a lot of WordPress sites (only a few of which use Page Builder), so having a standard way of backing up and restoring sites is critical – we need automated nightly backups which can be stored offline and restored rapidly.

Please let me know what we can do to achieve this, or whether we need to stop using Page Builder.

Thanks,

Andrew
