Search Form on Slider

Hi, I’m trying to figure out a way to keep a search form (ideally a widget) on a slider, I thought I’d managed to do it using the Siteorigin Layout Slider (Hero text on left and search on the right), but it fades out with the slide, using two identical search forms layered one per slide on top of each other looks fine but is doesn’t function correctly unfortunately! Is there way to fix one of the layers or frames or adjust the timing of individual frames so the search remains in place?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

    Hi Ictsource,

So basically what’s going on here is that each frame has another copy of the search form and the forms don’t share data. This means that’ll look like the slider is “resetting” the form data.

Unfortunately, it’s currently not possible to “carry” widgets over to a different slide at this time. :(

With that said, I may be able to come up with a workaround depending on the context of the layout slider. Do you have a public URL where we can take a look at? If you need to keep this URL private from other users, just select “Private Reply” on the bottom right of the comment box.

    Hi Ictsource,

Okay, so based on your layout slider you should remove the other frames from the layout slider and instead move the frames (being the hero widgets) into a single hero widget with multiple frames. This will work around this issue and will retain the same style.

    Hi Alex,

Sorry confused! If I use a single hero widget with multiple frames, won’t the same problem exist, i.e one frame will appear on top of the other. I have probably misunderstood.

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Ictsource,

Basically, you’ee using a layout slider widget.
In each layout slider frame, you added a hero widget and a search form.

What I’m suggesting is that you merge all of the hero widgets into a single hero instance and remove all other layout slider frames. This is possible due to the hero widget supporting frames. This means you can have the text changing on the left but still keep the search form the same (as it is) as the layout slider frame won’t be changing, the hero widget frame will be.

    Does this make sense?

Unfortunately I still don’t get it! I must be dumb, if I add just a hero widget, I can’t see how to add the hero text and a widget side by side, as the hero frames I think are full width and on top of each other.

I can add a hero on the left and search on right with the layout slider or even page builder widget but the slides are not then full width. I guess I just don’t get it!

Happy to give you a login to see if you can make it work?

    Thanks

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Ictsource,

    Sorry for the delay.

Maybe I’m not explaining it well enough. I’ve created an example layout so you can see what I mean. Please download it here. To install it please navigate to a page builder powered page (or create one) and click the Layouts button in the Page Builder toolbar. Now click Import/Export and upload the example layout. Click insert and click either Before Layout or After Layout. Do not click replace layout unless this page was created to try this layout.

Once imported, please open the layout builder and set the background image for it via the widget styles. Does it make sense now? Basically, the layout builder will have a single frame while the hero widget will have multiple frames to allow for the text to change and the form to remain as is.

    Hi Alex,

Thanks for your help, the solution if I’ve done it right provides a single fixed background image. Ideally I was after a changing background but a fixed widget on right. No worries, if it’s not possible!

Thanks again for your help though.

    Hi Ictsource,

Ah. I was under the impression you weren’t after that due to your current setup. Sorry! No, this is currently not possible. Sorry mate. :(
