Save layout to post content not working

I am using WP 4.7 and the latest page builder. The builder settings has an option to save the layout to the post content which I have enabled. However, the post content only gets filled when a new post is published. When I update the post layout, the content is not updated.

Is this a bug in the page builder or is my understanding of this setting flawed?
