Pro and Child themes

10 years ago · Last reply by Alex S 10 years ago

Hi

I’m loving what I am seeing so far!

I am probably going to do some cutsomisations, but before I go “PRO” I’d like to play around a bit more, using a child theme. So – my question: If I go ahead building with a child them, and then upgrade to pro, will my child them still work as a child of the upgraded version?

Thank you in advance,
Chantal

    Hi Chantal,

I’m glad you’re liking it so far. :)

Your child theme will continue to work after the upgrade however, there may be certain issues that arise due to obsolete template code. The theme (in this case the parent) will be replaced with the pro version so you might have a couple of layout issues that are caused by the child theme if certain code is left over from the free version.

I would recommend having a play and then starting fresh with the actual theme.

    Thank you.

Looks like I’m going to have to take the plunge! (time constraints, and before Zuma opens his mouth again and trashes the Rand some more)
