Preview is still not working

By kluong, 9 years ago. Last reply by Andrew Misplon, 9 years ago.

Hiya!

I am unfortunately facing the preview problem although I have just updated to SiteOrigin 2.03. I am using WP 4.1 and run Vantage Premium.

When I log in to my dashboard and open a specific page I can see the widgets as last placed (and saved via update). When I then go to Preview (nothing changed in the page) it shows me an older version of that page (with some widgets content still visible, which I had deleted when I had last edited the page).

It seems like the preview refers to an older version of the page whereas the dashboard view refers to the most recent version.

I have already deactivate all plugins, no difference. I have deleted and reinstalled the Black Studio Tiny MCE. Still no change.

If you need access to my page, please let me know! This is urgent!
I have Premium. Can you give me a hint where to find my order number again?

Kind regards
Kerstin

    Hi, I Work Here

    Hi Kerstin

Sorry to hear about this hassle.

I can see this problem in my demo. For now you’ll unfortunately need to save the page and view it live to see the changes reflected.

We have it logged and will address as soon as possible.

Your Vantage premium order number can be found under Settings > General in the SiteOrigin order number field.

    Hi Andrew,

I must unfortunately tell you that it does not even work with the page saved and view it live. The page is published but even when I save any modifications the preview won’t show them.
Sometimes (but not always), it works to leave the page and come back in, then click preview.
Hence, at the moment I can only be lucky if I have the chance to see the changes I have made. This is in any case extremely time consuming and very, very annoying! You guys really need to work on the problem.

Second, I tried to find the premium order number but the only box i can see under Appearance > theme settings > general is site information text…I there anywhere else to look for it, please?

    Kind regards
    Kerstin

    Hi, I Work Here

    Preview:

I’ve tried to re-create on my side. If I first save the page and then use the Preview button I’m seeing the correct copy of the page.

Apologies for the hassle. We are aware of the problem. It will be addressed as soon as possible.

If the page is saved, you can use the View Page button next to the page slug. Please give that a try.

    Order Number:

Please check under Settings, not Theme Settings. Settings, the main Settings menu item, and then General. Right at the bottom of that page you’ll find our order number field.

    Settings > General

    Hi Andrew,
got it (the order number). Do you want it?

Checked with the “View Page” instead of Preview and that seems to work. better than nothing…

However, I think I tried this yesterday and by then it did not work. Will let you know in case it does not work anymore.

    Kind regards
    Kerstin

    Hi, I Work Here

For sure, let us know if you run into problems again.

The next time you open a new thread, there is an order number field you can use there.

    Thanks.

    Hi Andrew,

for info: I have created a new page, entered some text and a shortcode (both without the page builder) did not save and clicked on preview. The following error message popped up:

    “Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.”

Then deleted the shortcode. Again no saving, clicked Preview and the page displayed.
Extracted the text and copied into a newly created first row in the page builder using the visual editor. Did nto save and clicked preview.

Hence despite the short code which did not work, the preview function worked fine.
It does not, however, work fin on the other pages. The error must be created somewhere along the editing process.

    So long
    Kerstin
