Pictures are not uploaded when sharing post to Facebook or Twitter

Pictures are no longer being attached to my facebook shared post or my shared tweets. I think there is some that prevents(blocks) the image from uploading to social media post.

Clue#1 – When using the FB debugger the OG:Image thumbnail is not visible. The link is there just no image. Also when I look at the raw scraped html the meta tag with the OG:Image is present along with the url of the picture.

Clue#2 – If I copy the url of the picture in a web browser that does not already have the image cached, I get a “page not found”.

What is odd is that images show just fine in my website posts.

    Hi Tjusticeus

    Not quite sure. The OG URL does work. For example:

    Post: http://www.milesmojo.com/2016/01/14/american-citi-aadvantage-platinum/
    Tag:

    <meta property="og:image" content="http://www.milesmojo.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Citi-cards-inflight-offer.png">

    Image: http://www.milesmojo.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Citi-cards-inflight-offer.png

    Since we’re not sure, perhaps, try a quick plugin test. Deactivate all plugins except for the plugin generating the OG tag and retest.

    The link of the picture works just fine in the browser that has already had the page open (In this case Chrome(default browser)). If I copy the link to either IE or Firefox, browsers did not previously have the post open, I get the page not found. I am guessing that it works in the browser that had the post open beforehand because the image is in cache (my theory).

    I deactivated all of the plugins and tried to share a post to FB. I still did not get the image to load with the post.

    Ok, I see that now. Last test would be to switch to Twenty Fifteen or Twenty Sixteen theme and deactivate all plugins except for the plugin that’s producing the OG tag (is it WordPress SEO). Retest. That’s as vanilla as we can get it.
